Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is confident of a great transformation in the country when the PNP assumes the reins of power for its second term.
He said the PNP government has laid a solid foundation in its first term to accelerate development in the country.
“I have no doubt that some important foundations for accelerated development have already been laid and we are confident that whoever started the good work will help us bring it to a perfect completion,” said Dr. Bawumia at Power Chapel. International where he welcomed the New Year.
According to the vice president, Ghana is on its way to becoming a power in Africa.
“We all have a responsibility to ensure that the country of Ghana becomes a haven for collective settlement and not just for a select few. I am excited about the future of Ghana. We are going to be one of the powers of Africa by the grace of God, ”he said.
Dr Bawumia also added that although the Covid-19 pandemic made 2020 a difficult year, he is optimistic that the New Year will be better.
Previously at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Dr. Bawumia called on Ghanaians to continue praying for peace after the 2020 general election.
The vice president and his entourage, including the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, and other elected deputies in the Ashanti region were also at the Bantama Assemblies of God.
Christians in the Ashanti region kicked off the New Year with worship and dancing in churches.
At the Assemblies of God of Redemption, Senior Pastor, Rev. Patrick Agyemang Gyebi emphasized that people hold the key to their success in the New Year.
“No matter what happens, God is with us. As long as we trust and depend on God, He will help us to be successful, ”he said.
At Adoato Church of God, Senior Pastor Ernest Anyane Asare’s message focused on seizing the New Year to correct wrongdoing.
“I want to encourage the Christian community to stand up and fight to stop all political crime. We must stop wrongdoing. We must assume it and address it because the majority of those who are destroying the country are members of our own church, ”he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Calvary Charismatic Center resident pastor, the Rev. Joshua Obeng, says 2021 should unite the people of the country.
“May our disagreement not lead us to a point where we destroy the entire nation. Let’s stay put, ”he added.
