Thomas Partey, Arsenal midfielder
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey remains a doubt for the next double-decker of Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualification against Sudan after sustaining a thigh injury on Sunday.
The 27-year-old was replaced after the break by Dani Ceballos in a 3-0 loss to Aston Villa at home in the English Premier League.
The Ghana international was seen at Emirates Stadium with an ice pack on his left thigh.
Partey will undergo further controls to determine the severity of the injury that could rule him out of the playoffs.
The Black Stars deputy captain is racing against time to get fit for Thursday’s game against the Falcons of Jediane at Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Partey, who joined the Gunners in a £ 45 million deal this summer, has been hugely impressed and has already been compared to former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira.
He has played four league games with Mikel Arteta’s team.
