The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has organized the “Christ Street Christmas Party” for the children of the Bethlehem Congregation of Osu Castle and its surroundings.

The role was to encourage the children to defend the Christian faith and its teachings.

The Rev. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mantle, who is also the moderator of the General Assembly, said the church had decided on the location of the first Christ Street Christmas party because that was where the first missionaries landed more than 190 years ago.

“This year the Church turns 192 years old and the Headquarters thought it was in place to select this place for the party,” he added.

Rev. Mantle said that the church in Ghana and abroad was organizing a similar exercise at the same time to feed the poor, the hungry and show love to the communities they were in, especially the children on the streets.

The more than 1,000 members of the congregation across the country are doing the same: feeding people and showing them love.

“Jesus is the reason for Christmas. It’s not just about fun, but about understanding why Jesus came into the world.

“Jesus was born to save us from our sins. That is God’s plan for humanity and that is why we must seek Jesus. We must allow Jesus to enter our homes, our hearts and our communities, our nation, so that there is peace. There will be love to foster development and help people to move forward.

“I want to plead with the world that God has a plan for the world and that that plan is Jesus. That is why we celebrate Christmas. “

He noted: “Jesus is the Prince of Peace and once the Prince of Peace enters your hearts, your community or nation, there must be peace. So all who call themselves Christians in this nation should seek peace because that is one of the reasons why Jesus was born … His name is Prince of Peace.

Children enjoyed food and drink amid music and dancing to the tunes of the Kaneshie Youth Choir.

Each child also took home a packet of educational materials, a Bible, and Christian literature.

In the future, the Christ Street Christmas Party will be held annually to share the love of Christ within the communities that the church operates and also to give the best to the people, just as Jesus also gives the best to the humanity.
