Elmina Sharks are aiming to build on their famous win over Asante Kotoko before the break as they host the Ebusua Dwarfs in their first match of the second round of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Fearsome Sharks had failed to win any of their last six league games (D3 L3), prompting Yaw Acheampong to leave with Odartey Lamptey replacing him on an interim basis.
Against Ebusua Dwarfs, Elmina’s team has won two of their last five league games (W2 D2 L1).
With 20 points earned, Elmina Sharks are currently 14th on the record, just two places above the relegation zone.
The Ebusua dwarves have been better, although improvements are needed in all departments.
The Mysterious Dwarfs held Bechem United 1-1 in their previous league game and before that, they managed a laborious 1-0 victory over King Faisal.
The Cape Coast-based team have won three of their last six, narrowly losing to Hearts of Oak and Karela United during that span.
The dwarves have accumulated 23 points so far and as a result rank ninth in the league standings, four points behind a place in the top four.
