The Ministry of Youth and Sports is reported to be preparing a Gh ¢ 50,000 package to support Ghana’s Premier League clubs as the 2020/21 league games are played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus crisis .
Last week, the Sports Ministry ordered all sporting events across the country to be played behind closed doors due to COVID-19.
As a result, Ghana’s top-flight matches are currently played behind closed doors, which has become a financial burden for participating clubs.
But reports from Accra-based Angel FM indicate that the Sports Ministry has pledged to cushion the financial burden on top-tier clubs with a ¢ 50,000 GH token.
The Ghana Premier League has started competitively as only one win was recorded after 9 rounds of games on opening day.
In the nine games played on matchday one, only WAFA SC and King Faisal produced a victory, as eight games ended in a draw.
The match between Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak was canceled at the last minute for medical reasons.
