The former Executive Director of Bulk Petroleum Storage and Transportation (BOST), Mr. Kwame Awuah Darko, has indicated that the manifesto that was launched days ago was drawn up by the people of Ghana.

According to him, the only role played by the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 Peoples’ Manifesto was practically facilitated.

“First of all, this manifesto was made by the people of Ghana for the people of Ghana. The NDC pretty much made it easy. All the key members of the team did a good and hard job. President Mahama was very involved. We share ideas and read the scripts. It is exactly what the people of Ghana ask of their political leaders.

“The document is not a tail wagging the dog, but the head listening to the body, which is how it should be. If you want to guide people, you need to understand not only who and where they are. And you must have a vision that expresses where we would all like to go and where we would like to be. That is exactly what the manifesto implies, the will of the people, ”he said.

He said in an interview on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, on Citi TV’s Point of View with Bernard Avle.

Mr. Awuah-Darko added that the key points in the People’s Manifesto of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) is to see where it came from, as that way one will appreciate the document.

“I think our general secretary, Asiedu Nketia, made an interesting comment on how we did it. Former President Rawlings insisted that the fourth Republican constitution be written in consultation with the common people of this country. All the previous constitution that had been written before did not last 5 years, simply because it was made by intellectuals, people who had assumed the right to govern a country, while the people also had their ideas.

“Ghana has evolved. We have gone from 3 to 30 million people, so what you would do in the 60s is not what you would do in the 90s. We have gone from a country where the penetration of education was around 6% to where today it is around the 60%, because more universities have been built and more people have attended school. The most interesting thing today are social networks. So you can have a Ghanaian living in some parts of the country and you can understand what is happening in the rest of the world. So you have to approach the Ghanaian like he’s smart, smart and knows what he wants out of life. And that’s what the manifesto is about, he added.

Meanwhile, the 2020 NDC Peoples’ Manifesto captured all sectors of the economy and brought in some policies of social intervention that, according to party members, will transform the country better than what its opponents are currently doing.
