Chelsea defender Abdul Baba Rahman says his native Ghana must have a “plan of action” to end a 40-year wait for an African Cup of Nations title.
The four-time African champions have clinched a 23rd appearance in the continental competition, on what has been a routine route for the Ghanaians.
However, the Black Stars have been flattered to cheat despite making a great impression in the last decade.
The West African giants have not won the title since 1982 and there has been a massive apprehension about ending a long wait for an African crown.
The team came close to securing it in 2015, but lost in a sensational penalty to neighbors from the Ivory Coast.
Defender Baba Rahman, who is on loan to Greek PAOK from Chelsea, says it is time for the giants to have an action plan to end the long wait.
“It’s hard to say because with Ghana qualifying for AFCON seems like a mere formality. Since I’ve been with the Black Stars, I don’t think we’ve fought that hard to qualify for the Nations Cup,” he told FMIG’s Tophic. Kadir Sienu.
“The goal is to win all the time. We have been saying this to ourselves during the period. I think we have to plan everything properly. Get serious and if the necessary things are done, Ghana has the quality and hopefully we can win. “. In this age.
“I don’t know if Ghana will win the next AFCON. That is almost the dream of every Ghanaian.”
The Black Stars finished as Group C winners in the qualifying campaign after a routine 3-1 win over the São Tomé minnows on Sunday.
The 2021 African Cup of Nations will take place in Cameroon next year.
