Ghana is bigger than your ego – NPP tells Mahama

The New Patriotic Party has asked NDC presidential candidate John Mahama to let go of his ego and accept the results of the EC presidential elections.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, PNP Secretary General John Boadu pointed out that although all political parties can claim to have accurate results, the pink sheet is the only faithful reflection of the decision of the Ghanaians in the elections of December.

“The election of Nana Akufo-Addo as President-elect of the Republic of Ghana reflects the will of the Ghanaian people. It’s time for him [Mahama] accept what has happened. He has lost the elections with more than 500,000 margins.

“Let the people of Ghana speak up and tell John Dramani Mahama that this country is bigger than his ego.”

According to him, the Electoral Commission has proven its credibility despite several accusations from the opposition party that characterized the election results as fictitious and flawed.

“The result issued by the EC has been corroborated by CODEO, endorsed as free and fair by the EU Mission and resolved by the Media.

“It cannot be that all these internationally renowned organizations are in cohorts with the EC to steal an election,” he added.

Therefore, he called on all Ghanaians to unreservedly condemn the intransigence of the NDC. He also urged the NDC to “go to court to address their complaints, if they have them.”

In response to the demands of the National Democratic Congress to have a majority in Parliament, Mr. John Boadu indicated that the results of the parliamentary elections recorded by the Electoral Commission should be considered.

“The EC has affirmed that indeed the New Patriotic Party has a majority of seats. I shudder to understand if they were taught basic one, two, three in Nursery.

“It should be clear to them that they don’t have the 140 seats they are talking about.”

However, John Boadu admitted that the results of the parliamentary elections is Ghanaians’ way of telling the two main political parties to work together.
