The Communication department of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) organized a one-day training seminar for Premier League Club Media Officers (CMO) and Event Media Officers (VMO).
The seminar that took place on Thursday, October 29, 2019 at the GFA secretariat aimed to take participants through the impact of the media on the league, as well as their expected roles on match days.
It also aims to provide VMOs and CMOs with a better understanding of media operations before, during, and after matches in the 2020/2021 League season.
GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq.), Integrity Officer Obed Tuffuor, Premier League Management Committee Vice Chairman Jesse Agyapong and CAF Media Officer Kofi Sumaila Addae were among the speakers at the seminar.
At the seminar, marketing and branding expert Jesse Agyapong implored the club’s media officials to identify the needs of product consumers (public) and to come up with policies and content cut out to suit them.
“Football is a massive product, no matter the origin of the people we communicate with, so identify their needs, find out what they want and design content that suits them.
“You can’t win without a visibility plan, so you need to be visible, innovative and consistent. So work to your strengths, lead the conversation, build enviable brands and be consistent,” added Jesse Agyapong .
GFA Secretary General Prosper Harrison Addo led participants through the “Soccer Against COVID-19” protocols that are expected to go into effect in the new season starting Saturday, November 14, 2020.
Kofi Sumaila Addae, Head of Media for the African Football Confederation (CAF), led participants through the operational treads of key media to screen their clubs.
He commissioned the Club’s media officers to be innovative in their approach to working with the media to improve brand visibility and image.
Club representatives were also brought through the Associations Zero Tolerance policy on match manipulation, match fixing and betting by the GFA Integrity Officer. Other areas covered included media operations and new media opportunities in club, venue and league promotion.
