[ad_1]

The Manhyia South constituency is located in the Ashanti region and is considered a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Statistics compared between 1996 and 2016 show that the PNP has maintained a “comfortable advantage” in all elections, both presidential and parliamentary.

Parliamentary

Matthew Opoku Prempeh was a Member of Parliament in 2008 for the Manhyia constituency.

In 2012, he became the deputy for the newly created Manhyia South when the number of electoral districts increased from 230 to 275. Since it is considered a safe seat for the NPP, he comfortably retained his seat in 2016 and is seeking re-election.
