Ghana Election 2020: Sene West Constituency and NDC Kwame Ampofo Twumasi Win in the Morning

Democratic National Congress [NDC] fighting tooth and nail to win Sene West’s constituency by just 16 votes despite the heated battle over who will win that seat.

Parliamentary elections for constituencies come to a standstill after the PNP attempted to impose a court order on the results of one of the polling stations, the Tato ‘A’ electoral college.

But the Wenchi High Court dismissed the case they described as “hopelessly incompetent”.

After the court dismisses the case, EC officials now continue more counting the ballots for the Tato ‘A’ polling station where NDC secures 275 votes, if NPP polls 148, NDP gets 1 vote if they reject 47 votes in total.

After counting, the EC now adds the total constituency election results giving NDC 13,116, insurance NPP 13,100.

The EC declares the NDC the winner of Sene West’s parliamentary seat after the NDC candidate defeated the NPP by 16 votes and rejected 660 ballots with a total of 26,407 votes.

After securing Sene West, the opposition NDC now gets 137 seats for parliament, as does the NPP, which gets 137 seats.

But NDC’s challenge the results of 3 seats, including Techiman South, in particular, where the military interferes the most with the electoral process.

Meanwhile, the NPP also wants challenging results for Banda den Savellugu, both strongholds of the NDC.

Any party that wins any of the seats in the race will become part of the next majority in Ghana’s Parliament, where it will elect Speaker of the House.
