Neil-Armstrong Mortagbe, a sports management professional, suggested that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) should share some of its rights to the Ghana Premier League with other stakeholders.

The FA owns all rights to the top flight and other divisions. There have been talks in the past to make the league autonomous, but the process has yet to fully take off.

Following the GFA’s disagreement with Kotoko over match filming in recent days, Mortagbe, a former managing director of Hearts of Oak, suggested on Joy Sports Link on Saturday that the authority should be divided with other stakeholders such as clubs and media. Communication.

“The FA has been very reluctant to part with the rights to the Ghana Premier League because the Ghana Premier League remains one of the FA’s strongest brands. It’s not easy to let go of that mark, ”he told Nathaniel Attoh on Saturday.

“The framework within which that brand is set aside should be such that the FA still generates some revenue from the Ghana Premier League with which to develop the other parts of the game.”

“Let’s say you have a Ghana Premier League company called GPL company limited, they pay 10-15% to the association for the development of the game at other levels, then the FA has something they can work with.” .

“There is a clear focus in the English Premier League. We have to make a frame [in Ghana] that works for everyone. We can have a league in which the FA has a stake, the clubs have a stake, the media have a stake and the fans have a stake. “

GFA will meet with the clubs on Monday to resolve issues about filming this season’s games.
