Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has said that gas supply challenges are the reason behind Wednesday morning’s blackout in some parts of the country.
The energy distributor explained that the closure of an emergency valve at the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo), has cut gas supply to some generating plants in the country.
As a result of this, he said that parts of the country have been experiencing power outages since 6:30 am on Wednesday March 3.
“To avoid a total shutdown of the system, the power supply to some bulk supply points was interrupted, causing outages in some parts of the country,” it said in a statement.
