Chelsea assign Thomas Tuchel to replace Frank Lampard if unable to turn club fortunes
According to German publication Bild (h / t Daily Mail), Chelsea could turn to Thomas Tuchel if Frank Lampard fails to address the club’s current downfall.
The Blues have lost three of their last four Premier League games. This has seen us fall off the table. With several stars struggling to reach top speed, manager Frank Lampard is under increasing pressure to turn his team’s fortunes around.
Tuchel, who led PSG to the final season of the Champions League, was relieved of his duties at the Parc des Princes last week.
The 47-year-old is an experienced coach with spells in Mainz and Borussia Dortmund. He is unwilling to take a year off and is said to be interested in directing at the Bridge if given the opportunity.
The German has received a £ 5.4 million reward and would be free to take over at another club immediately.
According to the report, he will love working alongside German internationals Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger. Given how the previous two have struggled so far, a new manager might be tasked with bringing out the best in the duo.
This is not the first time Tuchel has been linked to the Chelsea position. The club contacted the German after his departure from Dortmund in 2017.

However, it has the potential to be a poisoned chalice. Tuchel is quite outspoken and has clashed with his co-workers in previous jobs.
His relationship with Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke and PSG sporting director Leonardo was not the healthiest. Nicknamed ‘The Professor’, Tuchel is a hands-on coach who has the ability to become a prominent name in the game.
