Gary Neville states that Man Utd’s top three spots in the 2007-08 season will “not be defeated” by any competitor in Premier League history.

The former United defender named Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez as the best attacking association he has seen on the British coast.

It included the scorching trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino of Liverpool, as well as the talented frontline of Man City.

Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez helped United to a Premier League and Champions League double, contributing 79 goals and 29 assists between them in the ’08 season.

“That front three was just awesome,” Neville said of his former teammates. “Not just because of the quality of the players, but because of a selfish and unpleasant determination for those three.”

“Ronaldo in a different way on the field, in the sense that he would not be bothering people, kicking, harassing, rushing.”

“He was huge in terms of their performance levels, but Rooney and Tevez were street fighters, but with incredible skill.”

“You talk about the best front three in the Premier League, you will never beat those three for me.”

In contrast, Liverpool forwards provided 87 goals and 36 assists in the 2017/18 campaign, followed by 69 goals and 19 assists the following season.

Neville added: “You can talk about Mane, Salah, Firmino, I love them to pieces, and Sterling, Agüero and Sane in the city, but look at the top three of Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo, at their peak he was out of this world . “

Tevez was the first player to leave United in 2009, thus breaking the terrifying three forwards, shortly before Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid in the same summer.

But Neville criticized Tevez for leaving the club long before his sudden and bitter departure.

“What bothered me about Tevez was that he brought down tools in his second season,” said Neville. “I started sitting on the treatment bench, I started going out late to train. I started playing.

“I was playing at the club, and I couldn’t bear that.”

“I understand that he had circumstances, but that his people were in his ear the whole time, he was so guided by his people. It was always going to end as always.”
