Gary Neville Aims To Criticize Ed Woodward On Handling Jadon Sancho’s Transfer Search

Gary Neville has beaten Manchester United for their transfer business, and believes they are lagging further behind their Premier League rivals.

United have made just one transfer so far in what has been a disappointing summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer securing the services of Ajax’s Donny van de Beek.

The boss is desperate to bolster his attacking ranks, but has been unable to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the number 1 target, Jadon Sancho.

The fact that there are no fresh faces for the team has frustrated Neville, who has singled out Old Trafford bosses for not spending cash when players like Liverpool and Chelsea have strengthened their first teams.

And Nevile also believes they need at least three new signings after watching his former team fight in their first Premier League match with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

He told Sky Sports: “That first half will not have calmed down Man United fans who have been demanding more activity in the transfer market.

“It hasn’t happened yet. The club just doesn’t seem able to do things quickly or efficiently enough.”

“They need a center back, they need a left back and they need a forward.

“Without them, Manchester United is not going to close the gap. Chelsea have acted and Liverpool are acting, they are already stronger.”

Neville also urged Solskjaer to sign a new defender as a teammate to captain Harry Maguire.

He added: “One area that Man United should try to strengthen is the central defender. But he has to be fast, someone who can defend one against one.

“If you look at the best mid-center associations over the years, they have always had a fast one.

“Old Trafford is a great launch and, above all, if your wings go forward, you will leave your centrals one on one.”

“Over the years, Man United’s best central defense associations have always had a very fast one, be it Jaap Stam or Rio Ferdinand or Gary Pallister, who has a breakneck pace to cross and eliminate danger. Lindelof and Maguire I just don’t have that. “
