The Greater Accra Association of Assemblymen (GAAM) has asked former President John Mahama and the Democratic National Congress (NDC) to resort to the practice of legal backing by going to a competent court of jurisdiction to obtain redress for any electoral concerns in the fair -The 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections have concluded.

According to GAAM, electoral disputes are resolved by a court of competent jurisdiction and all of these are constitutional practices or laws that have greatly contributed to the achievement of a positive international electoral image of the Republic.

At a press conference in Accra, the group admonished NDC leaders to chart a course already set by the PNP in 2012 by going to court with evidence to challenge the election results as law-abiding citizens.

It will be recalled that after the declaration of President Akufo-Addo as president by the president of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensah, after the 2020 general elections, the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its supporters assault some streets of the country to express their disgust at the results.

According to the results declared by the President, they were inadequate and incorrect to declare Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as President.

GAAM further emphasized that the behavior of the NDC leadership in inciting its supporters against the EC and subsequently accusing the Ghanaian media of colluding with the ruling New Patriotic Party to manipulate the 2020 elections is unfortunate because they have not provided any material of evidentiary value. to authenticate your claims.

He added that GAAM, do not hold a grudge against the NDC if Excellency, former standard bearer John Dramani Mahama has a genuine reason for refusing to admit defeat in the final 2020 election or if Mr. Mahama and NDC supporters believe their Fundamental Human Rights as citizens of this sovereign country have been violated.

GAAM also takes the opportunity to commend and congratulate the Ghana Election Commission headed by Ms Jean Mensah and staff for organizing a successful voter registration alongside a peaceful, transparent and fair, incident free elections in between of the deadly pandemic, COVID-19.

They also extend their message of congratulations to the president-elect, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; Accra Mayor, Hon. Adjei Sowah for being a pillar of the Greater Accra Assembly Members Association.

They also urged all electorates in Greater Accra and the country not to allow them to be used as a ship to cause disturbances in any way that would subvert the peace and security of this country.
