The 21st edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards took place today, but has been segmented into three days spanning from Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30, 2020.
The new arrangement was necessary due to the outbreak of COVI-19, which forced the event to be postponed from May to August.
As a result, for the first time, the VGMA was held without the presence of the fans who make the event pompous and glamorous.
The performances of Kofi Mole, Eno Barony, Strongman, Fameye, Ras Kuuku, Kelvynboy, etc., added a perfect touch and created the perfect euphoria for a great show that was watched by millions of Ghanaians behind their televisions and on the internet.
Below is the list of winners from the first night:
- Instrumentalist of the Year ––– Winner: Emmanuel bludo
- Male Vocalist of the Year ––– Winner: MOG Music
- Female Vocalist of the Year ––– Winner: Celestina Donor
- Composer of the Year ––– Winner: Kofi Kinaata
- Record of the Year ––– Winner: Okyeame kwame
- Best Music Video of the Year ––– Winner: Chinese soul
- Best Musical Group of the Year ––– Winner: DopeNation
- Producer of the Year ––– Winner: MOG Beatz
- African Act of the Year ––– Winner: Burna boy
- Best International Collaboration of the Year ––– Winner: Sarkodie ft. Rudeboy (Lucky)
Tomorrow, August 29, there will also be an award ceremony for deserving people. The coveted ‘Artist of the Year’ is expected to be featured tomorrow with many pointing to Sarkodie as the winner.
Sunday, August 30, 2020 will mark a concert by musicians to appreciate the efforts of front-line healthcare workers who have sacrificed and contributed immensely to the collective fight against Coronavirus.
