Free SHS will collapse without double track – Kweku Baako

The editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide says the policy of SHS free without the two-way system is not feasible.

Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr. He said the two go hand in hand, therefore taking one out of the other will lead to the collapse of politics.

“The dual track is essential even though the transitional feature of the Free SHS policy … you cancel the dual track and it will kill that baby (Free SHS),” he said on Peace FM.

This comes after the NDC in their 2020 Manifesto announced that they will improve Free SHS by including private schools.

The party’s running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, said politics under a new Mahama administration will come without the two-track system.

In a subsequent conversation on PM Express, the chairman of the NDC 2020 Manifesto Committee also said that the abolition of the two-track system will not be immediate but progressive.

Professor Danso Boafo said that the dual track system will only be abolished once the Mahama government has finished expanding school facilities.

This, Mr. Baako is challenging the party to provide a specific time frame for cancellation, so that Ghanaians can hold them accountable if they fail to deliver on the promise within the allotted time.

He added that Free SHS without the dual track is “an unrealistic proposition.”

“The NDC should tell us when they will cancel the two-way system. What is the time period, one, two or three years?

“I think this [NPP] The government granted a period (5 years) to phase out the dual track system. This was a pragmatic reaction to a Herculean task. In fact, [abolishing free SHS] it is an unrealistic proposal, it should not be questioned ”, he added.
