Tatale Traditional Area Supreme Chief Obore Gariba Yonkosor II praised the government’s flagship program, Free Senior High School (SHS).
According to him, the program has offered several young people of school age an opportunity that did not exist before, as well as alleviating the financial burden on parents and guardians.
“I want to thank you for the laudable policies and flagship programs that your administration has initiated since taking office, for which the district has received its fair share. Some of which include Free SHS which has relieved parents of the burden of school fees, ” he revealed.
He made it known when Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia visited his palace today as part of his working visit to the northern region.
Speaking about his traditional area in a durbar, the Chief acknowledged that although the government has done more, there is a need to do more to develop the area.
Obore Gariba Yonkosor II, called for work to accelerate the deplorable nature of the highway which has manholes and graduated human wells and poses serious risks to the lives of people in the area citing the deplorable state of the Yendi-Tatale highway linking Ghana to Togo.
He said that in addition to the loss of life, the government must prioritize the path to alleviate the suffering of the people and also open other opportunities for the area.
“Our main problem here as a district is the poor road network throughout the district and the deplorable nature of the Yendi to Tatale highway. Approximately 90% of our people are dedicated to agriculture and it is sad to note that during the rainy season most of the roads that link the communities are closed, making it difficult for farmers to transport their agricultural products to the centers. commercials for sale ”.
“The Yendi to Tatale highway, which is an international highway linking Ghana and Togo, is also in such poor condition, especially during the rainy season, to the point that travelers who used this route until now are diverted to a alternative route to the Republic of Togo. This has had a negative impact on the economic development of the area. We wish to call on His Excellency to prioritize the road and build it to alleviate the suffering our people go through when traveling by road ”.
Obore Gariba Yonkosor II noted that the Akufo-Addo-led administration has done more and therefore should be given four more years to do more for the people of Ghana.
