Frank Lampard praised Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger after his weeknight performance in the Champions League and revealed that he had no doubts about giving him his first appearance of the season.
The Blues managed a 4-0 away win on Wednesday night in the group stage of the Champions League against Russian Krasnodar, who proved to be a tough opponent lacking a clinical advantage.
Callum Hudson-Odoi’s goal in the first half gave Chelsea an advantage and they had to take advantage of some opportunities from Krasnodar in the second period, but they eventually beat them with three quick late goals.
Timo Werner sent a penalty, while Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic were also on the score sheet.

Lampard gave an enthusiastic verdict when asked about Rudiger’s contribution to the rear and explained that he was an important part of the bottom line.
The 27-year-old center-back has been in Chelsea’s pecking order of late, but made his first club appearance of the season and impressed throughout the 90 minutes.
“I am very satisfied today with the performance of Rudiger and Kurt Zouma. They can take credit for the clean sheet among other players, ”Lampard told Football.London.
“I had no doubts about Toni. His training and professionalism has been very clear from the beginning since I have been here and certainly in the last few weeks. I was very satisfied with his concentration levels and with Mendy also four and five seconds ”.
Chelsea have five high-level options as a central defender within their squad at Stamford Bridge and that means Lampard has a near impossible task to keep everyone happy.
German international Rudiger was called into the fold to help the Blues maintain another clean sheet against Krasnodar and may perhaps be in line for more minutes as Lampard was extremely positive in the post-match assessment of his performance.
