Roads and Highways Minister Kwasi Amoako Atta said the government is ready to build four new standard interchanges in Kumasi to dramatically reduce vehicle traffic in the regional capital of Ashanti.
The project, according to the minister, will be carried out at the Suame roundabout, the Anloga (Oforikrom) crossing, the Bekwai roundabout and the airport roundabout.
Informing the media in Kumasi ahead of the Ashanti Region Highway and Highway Ministry tour, the minister revealed, the ministry’s technical team has almost finished with a main feasibility study on the project.
It revealed that the government has 156 different road projects currently underway in the Region. Adding that ring road will be built to facilitate the movement of people traveling from Accra to the north and vice versa, who have nothing to do in Kumasi.
He enlisted the projects “the following referrals will be made as a measure to create an additional travel option for travelers and also to improve the network’s capacity. This is to complete the Kumasi Inland Ring Road. This is the completion of the inner ring road between the wooden garden through ahodwo, roundabout santease and at the interchange of the sofo line. We also have what we call Kumasi after the ring road. Feasibility studies for the Kumasi after the ring road are currently underway. “
“Arrangements are under discussion to build the section of the ring road between Ejisu on the N6 and Opimso on the N10. And this is a very important government project and will substantially reduce traffic in Kumasi. “
