Avram Grant has said that Arsenal’s new midfielder Thomas Partey has a reliable personality and key playing skills.
The former Chelsea manager believes that his former midfielder on the Ghana team had intelligence at a young age.
“From the first time I saw him, I saw a player who was very strong and good with the ball, who understands the game very well,” Grant told The Sun.
“Even when I was relatively young and inexperienced, I knew what to do in terms of possession and position, how to get to the right place at the right time.
“But he is also a very good boy, on and off the field, with great character. He wants to do his job and is very consistent.
“Thomas does not usually have good and bad days because you know in each game what you will get from him, what is best for the team.
“He likes to be with other people, but he is a polite boy, quiet most of the time but ready to speak his mind when it needs to be said, not yelling, but making his point.
“It is good for any coach to have such a player in his locker room.
What about Partey’s abilities to fit into the English Premier League and how versatile can the 27-year-old be for Mikel Arteta?
“I would ask the Arsenal fans to give him a few weeks to get used to English football, because it is still played differently in the Premier League than anywhere else, even if there are now more foreign players.
“But it will be a good signing, perfect for what Mikel Arteta is trying to do.
“When you need him to hold the ball up, he can do that and it fits perfectly with what Arteta is trying to do on his team.
“If they ask him to play open, he can, but it is not his position,” added the Israeli coach.
