Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has urged Ghanaian players playing in foreign leagues to consider ending their careers at home.

He said this will help develop the Ghana Premier League as the presence of these players in the national league will have many knock-on effects on the game.

“I urge Ghanaian players who play in Europe to come back here and play in the league at the end of their careers so that the league is very nice,” he said in an interview.

The former Black Stars winger is among the few national stars who played for local clubs before hanging up their boots.

The former Heart of Midlothian star rejoined the Phobians in the second half of the 2011-12 season after a successful career in Europe.

Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan and former Inter Milan star Sulley Muntari have been linked with a move to the country’s two biggest clubs.

The news generated a lot of interest from the fans who are eager to see the two soccer stars play in the national league.

In recent times, other national stars who have appeared in the Ghana Premier League after a successful career in Europe are Richard Kingson (Major Olympics), Baffour Gyan, Papa Arko (Liberty Professionals) and many others.
