Former Acting Managing Director of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Felix Anyah, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ho Teaching Hospital.
During the commissioning of the Board of Directors of the Korle Bu and Ho Teaching Hospitals, the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, said that the new Boards are the “first under the long-awaited amendment of Section 37 of Law 525 of the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospital Act 1996 ”.
The Minister of Health said that under the Ghana Teaching Hospitals and Health Service Act 525 of 1996, the membership of the Teaching Hospital Boards then consisted of approximately 80% of the hospital’s administrative staff.
But for efficient corporate governance, the Board now consists of 10 professionals who do not belong to the hospital administration and only the Executive Director of the Hospital as a member forms a total composition of 11.
“It is in light that section 37 of law 525, which defines the membership of Ghana’s teaching hospitals and health service, was amended by Parliament and passed on 27th December 2019 ”, he added.
While thanking President Akufo-Addo for the honor he had been granted, Dr. Anyah committed to developing the new Teaching Hospital by establishing links with international accreditation bodies such as JCI International in others to promote medical / health tourism in the hospital. and the Volta region, as well as making Ghana a center for medical tourism.

Dr. Anyah graduated as a physician 41 years ago from the University of Ghana School of Medicine, Korle Bu.
Distinguished himself as a clinician in private medical practice as Director of Holy Trinity Medical Center, Accra and Holy Trinity Spa & Health Farm, Sogakope, health columnist, businessman, philanthropist, member of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council, pioneer in health / medicine integrative, as well as medical and health tourism in Ghana.
But in recent years, he has played a leading role in the management and administration of the public sector in Ghana.
In 2015-2016, former President John Dramani Mahama appointed Dr. Felix Anyah as Chairman of the Board of the Health Facilities and Regulatory Agency.
In 2017, President Akufo-Addo appointed him Acting Director General of Korle Bu University Hospital for one year.
In 2018, Dr. Felix Anyah won the award for Best Overall Executive Director. He has also won five Best Executive Director of Health awards from different organizations.
In both 2018 and 2019, he won the most respected CEO awards by public vote and has now been re-elected as chairman of the board of Ho Teaching Hospital.
