First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo
A prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (PNP) in the Bono region, Mr. Yaw Dabie Appiah-Mensah has commended the First Lady, Ms. Rebecca Akufo-Addo for the excellent way in which she has supported the President in seeking solutions to problems associated with maternal health in the country.
He noted that the First Lady’s efforts to advocate for maternal, adolescent, and pediatric health care had earned her many admirers at home and beyond.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Mr. Appiah-Mensah mentioned the construction of a mother and child facility at the Komfo Anokye University Hospital in Kumasi, among other projects in other regions, as legacies that would stand the test of time.
Maternal health
Mr. Appiah-Mensah, who was also an organizer of the national elimination plan in the former Brong-Ahafo region, said: “Your commitment to uphold the general welfare of women, adolescents and children will engrave your name in the annals of the provision of health services in the country “.
He stated that the excellent relationship and the combination of efforts of the First Lady and the Vice President’s wife, Ms. Samira Bawumia, had helped them support their husbands in implementing policies and programs to improve the lot of Ghanaians.
“We need to acknowledge and applaud the selfless devotion to duty of Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia. Thanks to her exceptional leadership, she has saved many lives in the country. “
Mr. Appiah-Mensah expressed the hope that the future wives of the country’s leaders would emulate such a selfless commitment to the well-being of women and children.
She encouraged Ms. Akufo-Addo, Samira Bawumia and the Chief of Staff, Ms. Frema Osei-Opare, and other women in leadership positions to serve as conduits for many more women to assume leadership positions in the future.
“You have been an example of how women can use their positions to effect change in the lives of ordinary people, and posterity will never forget your inspiring leadership.”
