First Lady Named Lead TVET Ambassador | General news

The First Lady, Ms. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has been appointed Senior Ambassador for Vocational and Technical Training (TVET), charged with promoting the preference of TVET among young people in Ghana.

In her ambassadorial work, the First Lady would be supported by Ghanaian media personalities, Kwami Sefa Kayi, a television journalist, and Belinda Addardey, popularly known as Bella Mundi.

Other personalities include Kwame Nsiah-Apau, popularly known as Okyeame Kwame, musician, composer, creative director and entrepreneur, Ms. Martha Ankoma, film actress, Ms. Rebecca Donkor, founder and CEO of O de Makeup Ghana, and Mr. Daniel McKorley, a Ghana Business Tycoon and Founder and CEO of the McDan Group of Companies.

The First Lady, together with the other TVET Ambassadors, is expected to carry out various activities within their different platforms to change the negative perception about TVET and help increase enrollment in Technical and Professional Institutions.
They are also expected to inspire world-class excellence in skill development and introduce young people to a variety of professional careers.

In a short outdoor ceremony for Ambassadors in Accra, Ms Akufo-Addo praised the initiative and said that, in addition to the fact that technical and vocational education is the heart of the development of every nation, it has always served as an conduit for many to discover and develop their God-given abilities, which they subsequently applied, to earn a living.

Therefore, he expressed his willingness to support TVET and make the sector attractive to the large number of young people.
