Filipe Luis has admitted that Diego Simeone tends not to be too personal with his players and has a hard time getting along with them individually.
The former Brazilian international worked alongside the Argentine coach for several years at Atlético de Madrid, achieving some of the greatest successes in the club’s history.
“He asked you for the best in each training session. He always asks for the best of everyone, but he’s not very good at treating people,” Filipe Luis told O Jogo.
“It is not easy for him to build relationships with his players. It is difficult for him to understand the personal characteristics of the players, but sometimes he swallows his pride.”
Filipe Luis believes that the incidents at Atlético this season underscore these claims about Simeone’s nature as a coach.
“There have been several episodes like those of Joao Félix and the bottle or Luis Suárez, who got angry after being substituted,” the defender continued.
