FIFA temporarily suspended the 10-week suspension given to Kieran Trippier for violating the betting rules.

Last week, the FA found the England defender guilty of four of the seven alleged infringements of its betting regulations, all of which occurred in July 2019, at the time of his transfer from Tottenham to Atlético de Madrid.

Later, FIFA confirmed that the ban was effective worldwide, and thus the 30-year-old seemed willing to miss a crucial part of the season for Diego Simeone’s team in LaLiga and the Champions League.

But the world governing body now seemed to have intervened once again in a more positive way for Trippier, suspending the ban until the FA provides more information to the Spanish capital.

FIFA’s decision comes too late for the former Spurs full-back to take part in Atlético’s trip to Alavés tomorrow as they look to claim first place from Real Madrid.

But Trippier is expected to return to the team, having missed the win against Getafe midweek due to the ban, for the Copa del Rey match at Cornella de Segunda B on Wednesday.

Trippier, a former right-back for Burnley, had denied the seven charges against him, which were first made in May. Three of them were fired after a personal audience in October, but the other four were proven.

The initial suspension, which was to last until February 28 and also saw him fined £ 70,000, had ruled Trippier out of 13 matches for Atlético, including the Champions League round of 16 match against Chelsea on 23 February. February.

Atlético had made contingency plans following the initial decision on Trippier, and the club were considering a loan for Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and the former also interested Manchester United.
