The FIFA Disciplinary Committee will meet over Zamalek SC’s refusal to pay Ghanaian forward Benjamin Acheampong an amount of $ 1.1 million for breaches of contract.
In December 2020, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said that Acheampong had “just cause”, for various reasons, to have unilaterally canceled his contract with Zamalek, who must pay him $ 1.1 million.
The international sports court fined the Egyptian giants for the improper termination of the forward’s contract.
Acheampong was entitled to $ 400,000, but that figure has skyrocketed to $ 1.2 million after the Swiss-based organization’s ruling.
This means that Zamalek had a period of 30 days to make the payment or risk new sanctions from the world body.
Since then, Zamalek have failed to pay former Asante Kotoko player and face points deduction, relegation or a transfer ban.
The disciplinary committee is expected to render its verdict on the matter on February 25 or 26, 2021.
The Ghanaian star joined the White Nights in 2017, but terminated his contract after just one year.
