While there has always been an audience for live broadcast events, demand is at its highest due to current global circumstances. As a result, there are new innovative developments in the world of live streaming, and the most recent ones revolve around online festivals; record labels are beginning to organize their own live festivals.
Fearless Records, the independent label and haven for modern pop-punk, punk-rock and metalcore bands, has announced its own Fearless At Home Livestream Festival. The festival is scheduled for this Saturday at 3 p.m. ET, and features everything from acoustic performances, Q&A, and signature announcements. Acts by artists like Grayscale, The Almost, Wage War, As It Is, and The Pretty Reckless are set to perform at this weekend event, with additional appearances by All That Remains, August Burns Red, Underoath, and more.
Fearless At Home Festival is looking to be an unprecedented event for a fairly unprecedented time. Until this year, there has never been a live solo rock festival before, and more rock labels are sure to follow Fearless in their footsteps, and hopefully for a similar cause. The festival will raise money and donate sales of event brand merchandise to Crew Nation; The Live Music Equipment Relief Fund. Live music will definitely return with a “vengeance”, but in the meantime, Fearless At Home Festival boasts of being the latest and greatest rock live streaming event yet. And with the plethora of summer music festivals canceled, there are likely to be more home-based festivals on the horizon. In fact, Fearless is not the only record label to host a live broadcast festival, although it may be the first rock / punk-oriented label to do so. There will likely be a lot of smaller independent labels as well, as the task of curating a festival is even being done in Minecraft servers. It’s quite fascinating to see all the innovation that goes on with live concerts, but as we go along, live-only concerts are probably synonymous with the COVID-19 era.
