The Democratic National Congress parliamentary candidate for the Asawase constituency, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, says his party will insist that all ballots cast in his constituency be audited in the event of a single overvoting incident.

According to him, some nefarious elements of the New Patriotic Party (PNP) have been caught interfering in the electoral process in the area.

Speaking to the media, Muntaka Mubarak vehemently condemned those acts and called on his opposite side to desist from any malicious activity.

He said, “if we start counting, and there is even a single over-vote, we will insist that all ballots be audited. Because the electoral college has your serial number; you know that during the count, everyone is in a rush to do the counts.

“If there is one about voting, we will insist that each sheet be double checked, its serial number and everything before it can be counted.”

He claimed that these tactics used by the PNP to steal the elections are only proof of the party’s desperation to secure a victory.

“We can see their frustration, we can see their despair, and we can see the number of trucks that are moving alone in Asawase. I have seen them move around Asawase with more than 20 vans with strong built young men. For what? I challenge anyone to tell me if they’ve seen a single play by the NDC goons hanging around, ”he said.

Muntaka Mubarak advised the residents of Asawase to keep the peace as the elections draw to a close.

“We want this election to be peaceful, so we have done everything we can to make sure it is peaceful. We do not see the same of our compatriots, the NPP that we beg of them. So far Asawase has been calm, we’ve been through all of this, let’s finish hard. Let the will of the people prevail. “
