Barcelona’s dismal start to the La Liga season continued when a second-half win by substitute Álvaro Negredo gave Cádiz another important top-notch scalp.
Ronald Koeman’s men had bet on a lucky own goal to equalize after Álvaro Giménez put the buoyant home team ahead in the eighth minute.
But an embarrassing defensive confusion in the 63rd minute gave Negredo a chance to hit the winner with his first touch moments after replacing Giménez and they held on to the 2-1 victory.
Having already sunk Real Madrid on their return to the top flight, the hosts started confidently against their rival seventh.
But Giménez’s first goal sparked a period of intense pressure as Cádiz goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma made big saves to deny Lionel Messi and Philippe Coutinho before the break.

Elsewhere, runner-up Atletico Madrid kept the pressure on leader Real Sociedad as second-half goals from Thomas Lemar and Marcos Llorente gave them a 2-0 win Real Valladolid.

An impressive shot by Giovanni Reyna, 18, won Borussia Dortmund a 1-1 draw in Eintracht Frankfurt, who drew their fifth consecutive Bundesliga game.
Daichi Kamada gave the hosts a lead in the ninth minute but despite top scorer Erling Haaland injuring his thigh, Dortmund took control after the break and midfielder Reyna tied for the second Bundesliga goal of his career .
Dortmund, who had not drawn in their 27 previous league games, are third with 19 points from 10 games.
Eintracht, without winning in eight games in all competitions, is eighth with 13 points.
Elsewhere, Wolfsburg twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw in Suburb, While Arminia Bielefeld broke a seven-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over teammates Mainz.
Freiburg they are now nine games without a win after drawing 2-2 at home by Borussia Monchengladbach.
Serie A: Victories for Inter, Juve and Lazio
Achraf Hakimi scored twice as Inter de Milan remained in second place in Serie A with a 3-1 victory over Bologna.

Ligue 1: Mbappé’s milestone in PSG’s victory
Kylian Mbappé became the fifth player to reach 100 goals for his club as PSG hit late to finish Montpellierstreak of four consecutive wins in Ligue 1.
Colin Dagba’s first goal for PSG was disallowed by Montpellier’s Stephy Mavididi, but two goals in the final eight minutes from Moise Kean and Mbappé earned the leader a 3-1 victory.
Arnaud Muinga and Ignatius Ganago were on the record as Lens won 2-0 in Rennes extend the hosts’ winless streak to seven games in all competitions.
