Eric Bailly believes Manchester United’s latest contract offer is simply to attract a higher transfer fee for the defender this summer, according to reports.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has largely left the 26-year-old defender in the Premier League this calendar year, playing only once since early February.
The center-back is in talks with the club about a new 12-month extension and Bailly is reported to be unsure whether to extend it.
An anonymous source close to the defender told Sky Sports News: ‘Eric loves the club and the fans, his family is based in Manchester and he would like nothing more than to spend the rest of his career at Old Trafford.
But he feels that the club has been very disrespectful to him and frankly, he has had enough.
‘He feels like no matter what he does, he will never be Ole’s first choice. Now he realizes that he is too good and too young to spend time sitting on the bench. ”
Bailly joined Old Trafford at the start of the 2016-17 season from Villarreal for £ 30 million and has since played 100 times in all competitions for the Red Devils.
The defender was signed by former United manager José Mourinho, but has only played 12 Premier League games in the two full seasons in the top flight with the Portuguese’s replacement at Solskjaer.
The 26-year-old has largely played Lindelof’s second role as Maguire’s center-back partner this season and has grown increasingly frustrated at his lack of opportunities.
Bailly’s exclusion from United’s team of the day for the trip to AC Milan has been said to be the last straw, despite the center-back praising Solskjaer for his defensive training in recent weeks.
Speaking to Guillem Balague’s pure football podcast, he said: “I always play my best and he (Solskjaer) will tell me:” Eric, you are an aggressive player, forwards do not like this aggression. “He has been a striker as well. who knows.
“ There are a lot of important advice that he gives to a center back, a lot to take on. We learn from him, how to influence the striker, where to be.
“He gives us a lot of advice on that, when to make interceptions, the center-backs need to be close to the forwards, especially a true forward, small details tell us.
