The president of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Akufo-Addo, has criticized the unrest in Nigeria that has injured some of its citizens.
On social media Wednesday, the president indicated that he does not support the reported killings of peaceful protests by security agents in Nigeria.
Violence, whether from the police or the protesters, cannot be the solution. To the families who have lost loved ones, I express my deepest condolences and wish the injured a speedy recovery. 2/2 #EndSARS

He affirmed that violence can never be the solution to a problem and, therefore, adds to the call for a dialogue mechanism to resolve the emergence of chaos.
“I join all well-intentioned people in calling for calm and the use of dialogue to resolve the #EndSARS impasse in Nigeria,” he said in a tweet.
The president’s comment comes after several calls to publicly express his dissatisfaction with current events.
President Akufo-Addo mentioned that in an earlier conversation with Nigerian President Buhari, it is shown that all parties have initiated procedures to end the brutal activities in the country.
“I have spoken with President Buhari, who is committed to this end, and has started the processes that will lead to reform.”
In addition, he expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and urged everyone to desist from acts of violence that aggravate current problems in the country.
“Violence, be it from the police or the protesters, cannot be the solution. To the families who have lost their loved ones, I express my condolences and wish the injured a speedy recovery, “he said.
