There have been continuous demonstrations by young people in the West African country demanding the scrapping of the Special Anti-Theft Squad (SARS)
Former Arsenal forward Ian Wright joined Nigerians in calling for an end to the activities of the Special Anti-Theft Squad (SARS), a unit of the Nigerian Police Force.
Young people in the West African country have protested in large numbers in recent days, and SARS has been widely accused of illegal detentions, torture and murder.
Earlier this week, the Federal Government promised to reform the police unit, but citizens are demanding more than a reorganization, with the dissolution of SARS, the objective of the protesters.
After watching a video of how SARS agents harass young people on social media, Wright did not hesitate to lend his voice to public outcry.
“#EndSARS #EndSarsNow,” the 56-year-old tweeted with a Nigerian flag and a love emoji.

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who is on the sidelines with a groin injury, said some of the country’s soccer stars fear traveling home due to unprofessional conduct by security officers that could turn into bullying.
“#EndSARS for the safety of Nigerians … We are afraid to visit our home because the people who should protect us are killing us. Looking good with dreadlocks is not a crime, ”said Ndidi.
