As today marks the last day for the 2020 Basic Education Certificate exams, Ms. Elizabeth Yamoah, 60, would breathe a sigh of relief as she celebrated her graduation.
In a new photo seen by YEN.com.gh on Instagram, a rather elated Mrs. Elizabeth Yamoah took the boy in her as she joined her JHS3 classmates to celebrate her successful completion of high school.
The 60-year-old Agona Odoben Presby Junior High School student was among the 531,705 candidates who sat down for the 2020 BECE, which ended today, September 18, 2020.

As is customary on such memorable days, Madam Yamoah was sprinkled with powder to congratulate her and was also seen holding a bottle of champagne.
In the background of the photo were some of Madam Yamoah’s classmates who were jubilant after successfully completing their first major national exam.
The 60-year-old student is reported to be Ghana’s oldest BECE candidate for the 2020 student pool and seeks to gain access to secondary education through the NPP’s Free SHS program.
Her story went viral after she was captured in a photo on the first day of the national exams looking smartly dressed and prepared to face the odds of sitting in the same class with children young enough to be her grandchildren.

In fact, Madam Yamoah’s story sheds more light on the phenomenon that “it is never too late to get an education.”
