The Electoral Commission has announced that voters from the Buem constituency in the Oti region will only participate in the presidential elections and not in the parliamentary elections.
According to a statement released by the Commission on Sunday, this is due to the creation of Guan District Local Government (Guan District Assembly) Instrument (Establishment), 2020 and pending the creation of Guan constituency.
“Voters in Guan district should take note of this directive in front of the Election Commission,” the statement read.
Everything appears to be ready for the polls on Monday, and valid registered Ghanaian voters are expected to go to the polls to elect the occupant of Jubilee House, the seat of government for the next four years.
Two hundred and seventy-five members of Parliament will also be elected for a term of four years.
Polls will be open from 7 am to 5 pm at 38,622 polling stations in the 275 electoral districts of the country.
The record of 12 people vying for the sole presidential seat in the 2020 elections will go down in Ghana’s electoral history as the largest list of candidates since the country began the practice of democracy.
The candidate who obtains 50 percent plus one eligible vote in the presidential race will be the eighth president of the Fourth Republic.
