The New Patriotic Party (PNP) says its legal team will expose the void of John Mahama’s petition against the Electoral Commission (EC) and President Akufo-Addo in the Supreme Court.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the ruling party said it remains determined that its standard-bearer won the recently completed “fair and square” elections and firmly believes that “the evidence presented by the NDC has only reassured the people of Ghana that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo won the elections ”.
“The fact of the transparency of the General Elections was also firmly affirmed by the myriad of local and international observers who participated in the electoral process,” the party added.
According to the statement signed by PNP Director of Communications Yaw Buaben Asamoa, “John Mahama of NDC, who bases his petition on alleged errors made by the Election Commission, has himself submitted a petition riddled with errors, including a request for a second round between him and the Electoral Commission ”.
Furthermore, the NPP noted: “It is also regrettable that even after filing the petition in court, the NDC led by John Dramani Mahama continues to incite his followers to take to the streets to cause chaos and anarchy.”
The ruling party reiterated that its response will show that the NDC has not presented valuable material evidence in court to support its blatantly false claims regarding the 2020 presidential election results.
“We are absolutely confident that the facts and figures presented in court, including by the NDC, will very easily reaffirm, in a transparent and indisputable manner, the will expressed by the voting public that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo won 2020. Presidential elections “one touch” and convincingly, “the party said.
Parts of the statement also stated: “They lied to their supporters that they had won and began to falsely refer to John Dramani Mahama as the president-elect. Now they have regressed, settling uselessly for a second round that they themselves know will not happen.
“They have tried and continue to use lies, threats, violence and intimidation to desperately seek to invalidate the manifest will of the people freely expressed on December 7, 2020.”
The PNP also used the platform to ask John Dramani Mahama to retract alleged inciting statements made to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after his defeat.
“It is extremely irresponsible of John Dramani Mahama to initiate the judicial process and still admonish his supporters to continue the violent protests that have threatened the security and peace of Ghanaians and have caused Ghanaians to live in fear and panic. unnecessary during the last weeks, ”added the match.
Democratic National Congress (NDC) standard-bearer John Dramani Mahama filed a petition on Wednesday to challenge the presidential results of the recently completed 2020 general election as declared by the Election Commission.
