Statement from the Ivorian political parties and opposition groups on the socio-political situation after October 31, 2020.

Following the previous statement of the opposition dated November 1, 2020, the opposition political parties and groups, after the parody of the presidential election of October 31, 2020, warn of the vacancy of the presidency of the Republic of Ivory Coast.

The majority of the people of Côte d’Ivoire followed the slogan of civil disobedience launched on September 20, 2020, and the one on the boycott of the presidential elections on October 31, 2020.

In fact, the power in place and the illegal electoral body only managed to get 8% of the electorate to vote, despite the filling of the ballot boxes, all other forms of cheating, attacks and assassinations perpetrated against opposition supporters.

As a result, opposition political parties indicate that 90% of the electorate in this election, the majority of Ivorians, rejected:

  • the illegal and unconstitutional candidacy of outgoing President Alassane OUATTARA;
  • the partisan nature of the body in charge of the elections;
  • the electoral list plagued with irregularities;
  • the iniquitous decisions of the Constitutional Council of September 14, 2020, invalidating certain candidacies.
    In view of the above,
  • Taking the consequences of the vacancy of the executive power, with the end of the presidential term of Mr. Alassane OUATTARA and the impossibility of carrying out a credible election;
  • Considering that the maintenance of Mr. Alassane OUATTARA as head of state is likely to lead to civil war,
    Opposition parties and political groups today announce the creation of the National Transitional Council.
    The National Transition Council is chaired by Mr. Henri Konan BEDIE, President of the PDCI-RDA and the CDRP platform.

The National Transitional Council is responsible for:

  • prepare the framework for the organization of fair, transparent and inclusive presidential elections;
  • constitute, in the next few hours, a transitional government;
  • to convene the national meeting for national reconciliation with a view to returning to final peace in Côte d’Ivoire.
    The opposition parties and political groups congratulate the Ivorians for their victory over the rape of Mr. Alassane OUATTARA and ask them to express their joy through popular demonstrations.
    Opposition parties and political groups say that the slogan of civil disobedience is upheld and ask the people of Côte d’Ivoire to remain mobilized until final victory.
