In an interview with the GNA, Mr. Yakubu encouraged supporters and supporters to be comforted by the PNP’s victory in the presidential elections in which the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was re-elected for a second term. .

“We thank the Almighty for leading us here and pray that we remain patient and calm as the Party takes steps to uncover the causes of this unthinkable defeat. We must refrain from the blame game and encourage each other in these difficult times,” Yakubu said .

He commended supporters and members of the PNP for showing maturity throughout their campaign process by not retaliating for the “numerous attacks” they suffered, and said it was a sign that they stood up for the welfare of the voters above their own. personal interests.

“Yes, we have lost our seat, yet the NPP and its supporters have shown maturity and demonstrated that the welfare of the people of Wa East is paramount over individualism.”

“This is manifested in our commendable act of not retaliating for the many attacks that our members and supporters suffered, including myself,” he said.

Mr. Yakubu also commended the constituency people for their support and cooperation throughout the campaign period.

However, he pleaded with the Party’s faithful and supporters in the Wa East constituency to learn the lessons of the recently concluded elections and prepare to regain the National Democratic Congress (NDC) seat in the upcoming general election.

Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, Senior Lecturer at the Wa campus of the University of Development Studies (UDS), who opposed the Wa East constituency seat on the NDC ballot obtained 21,428 votes, beating Mr. 35,674 valid votes cast.
