The excited officials of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) could not hide their joy with the party’s second position on the ballot, saying it is an indication of their return to the helm of affairs.
The party, during the voting process at the Election Commission office in Accra, chose position number 2, one place behind the ruling New Patriotic Party.
Speaking to reporters after the exercise on Tuesday, NDC Deputy Secretary General Peter Otokunor indicated that the result was just what the party had been praying for.
“We are very happy with the number we have chosen. In fact, that was what we expected. We went in for 2 and got 2. It’s JM’s second coming and you know what it means, ”he said.
According to him, it only consolidates the party’s fortunes as the party that ranks first in the December polls.
“When we speak of the second coming, we speak of return,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, the NDC deputy notary public expressed dissatisfaction with the circumstances surrounding the voting process on Tuesday.
“This has never been the concept. It’s about choosing numbers. You do the number in front of everyone. We look at the papers and the sizes.
“You fold them in front of everyone, put them in the box and make a random selection of the ballot for the first phase.
“Then, in the second phase, you do the picking order. Then it’s over, ”added Mr. Otokunor.
He argued that the process adopted in the voting process reinforces the NDC’s position on collusion between the EC and the PNP before the general elections.
Meanwhile, the NPP says its No. 1 spot makes it the ultimate party for the election.
His general secretary, John Boadu, after the vote said that it was a reflection of the confidence that citizens will have in the country as the first option in terms of leadership.
