The government has reacted to the assertion by the opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC) that it won a parliamentary majority in Monday’s elections.

At a press conference in Accra on Tuesday night, [December 8, 2020] Information Minister Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said that the claim was “false” and that the government considered that it was better to clear up this erroneous impression.

He also condemned the NDC’s call for its supporters to start rejoicing, something he said would likely create confusion if it turns out to be a false claim.

The press conference was in reaction to a claim by the NDC that it had won a parliamentary majority with 140 seats in Monday’s election.
