President Akufo-Addo has asked Ghanaians to judge him on his performance over the past four years to determine who leads the country in the December 7 polls.

He is convinced that he has kept the promises made to the electorates in the run-up to the 2016 elections.

While mowing the lawn for a new 400-bed regional hospital for Tema, President Akufo-Addo said his government is committed to universal health coverage that will ensure access to quality care.

“We are taking another step towards another extremely important objective of our country. That is to ensure universal health coverage for all Ghanaians. That we will have access to good quality health care for each and every Ghanaian, ”he said.

The new hospital that is expected to be completed in two years is part of a 160 million euro financing also for the Nkoranza general hospital in the Bono Este region and the reconstruction of burned medical warehouses in Tema.

Once completed, the Tema Hospital will have six operating rooms, an intensive care unit, a pharmacy and accommodation for staff, among others.

Deputy Minister of Health Bernard Oko-Boye is optimistic that the facility will address the health needs of the metropolis.

“I am very excited because this particular project has been on the drawing board for a decade. Nine years ago when I was working here, they told me that very soon we would stop keeping our women in the hallway and that the hospital would come.

“Eight years of NDC administration, the hospital never came. But today we are here to see the start of the project, ”he said.

The president previously cut grass for the construction of a similar health center in Kpone.
