N’Golo Kante paid tribute to Edouard Mendy for winning Chelsea a point at Old Trafford.
Mendy, a £ 22m signing from Rennes, continued to justify the decision to bring him in with a series of vital saves, including two from Marcus Rashford.
Senegalese international Mendy, hired to replace error-prone Kepa Arrizabalaga, was Chelsea’s best player against United.
Kante said: “He made some decisive stops. It helped us keep a clean sheet.
“It’s good for him, for his confidence and good for the team.
“I hope I can continue like this and continue without conceding goals.
“It was a difficult game for both teams.
“It was tight in midfield, it was difficult to have chances.
“It’s good that we had a clean sheet away from home, but we wanted to win this game.
“Not conceding a goal is the first step.
“Now we have to score more and do the right things to win the game in the future.”
Frank Lampard on Saturday expressed his happiness with Mendy, who has already kept three clean sheets for the Blues.
