Chelsea star Jorginho talks to Arsenal
Speaking to ESPN Brazil (h / t Mirror), Chelsea star Jorginho has opened up to speculation linking him to a signing for Arsenal.
The Italian international was linked to a move away from the Bridge earlier this summer. Arsenal was promoted as one of the potential destinations. Now we have heard from the horse’s mouth about it.
Jorginho has hinted that there were talks that took place but in the end, he chose to stay behind and commit to Chelsea.
“I think there was something they talked about. And in the end it was decided that I stay here.
He also reiterated his commitment to the club and is fully focused on helping the Blues succeed. So far, he has done so by scoring three goals and helping another in just six appearances.
Vice captain Jorginho has led from the front as the Blues look to usher in a new era at the club. With the new players still settling in, Jorginho’s presence in midfield has been a reassuring influence.
“Now my head is here and we are going to do a great job with Chelsea, which I always wanted to do.”
If Jorginho had moved to the Emirates, he would have been the second Chelsea player to do so in the same summer.
Blues star Willian decided to move to Arsenal once his contract at the club ended this summer.
In many ways, the Blues have also benefited off the pitch because the Italian chose to stay. In fact, Jorginho has taken it upon himself to help new signing Thiago Silva learn football terms in English.
