The Election Commission (EC) one-day voter registration exercise has started at its Volta Region Hohoe Municipal Office.

The exercise would allow citizens who have reached the age of 18 to register and would also provide the opportunity to citizens who, for one reason or another, were unable to register in the registration exercise that just ended.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the office at 0900 hours saw some eligible voters waiting in line for the exercise.

Mr. Wisdom Kofi Akpabli, supervisor of the registration center, revealed to the GNA that a total of eight registrants, one woman and seven men, including; a 69-year-old man had successfully gone through the process.

He said the process started at 7:30 a.m. and since then he had not registered any challenges with any of his machines.

The Supervisor noted that the exercise was not intended to replace lost voter identity cards and added that any citizen wishing to replace their cards must pay a GH? 5.00 at a designated bank and bring the receipt to the office to obtain a new card.

GNA also observed that registrants wore face masks, while subject to COVID-19 protocols including; hand washing as well as a police officer.

The police officer and party agents in the center had strong hopes that the exercise would end without a hitch.
