The Electoral Commission (EC) is holding a crucial meeting of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) this afternoon on the December 7 elections, 11 days away.
Although the Commission has ended the printing and distribution of all electoral materials nationwide, concerns remain with the names of registered voters missing from the registry.
The meeting is also expected to address voter verification issues on Election Day and the Commission’s reporting deadlines.
The Electoral Commission is expected to reach a consensus with the political parties on these and other issues on the agenda for this meeting.
The Democratic National Congress (NDC) had previously accused the EC of excluding critical stakeholders from its decision-making processes.
NDC Elections Director Elvis Afriyie Ankrah cited a 2019 US Human Rights Report from the US Department of State, alluding to the report vindicating its position on the Jean administration bias Mensa to the national central government.
“The removal of the president of the Electoral Commission in June 2018 and the subsequent filling of the EC by the president with people considered biased in favor of the ruling party raised questions about whether the body could be used to repress voter registration in areas of opposition support “. the United States said in its 2019 national reports on human rights practices.
