The petitioner’s third witness in the current electoral petition hearing has insisted that the president of the Electoral Commission (EC) Jean Mensa “fired” him from the strong room (National Collation Center).
Rojo Mettle-Nunoo told the court during his cross-examination by EC attorney Judge Amenuvor on Monday that prior to the declaration of the presidential election results, EC President Jean Mensa had asked him to consult with petitioner John Dramani Mahama on some anomalies. they had witnessed.
This, he says, happened in the early morning of December 9.
“The EC fired me from the chest, that was the first time I left the chest. It had never happened before, in previous elections, I was there for 72 hours ”.
“I came out of the safe a second time to seek an audience with the Election Commissioner. It was somewhere between 3 o’clock and 4 o’clock, ”he added.
Dr. Micheal Kpessa-Whyte, Mettle-Nunoo’s colleague and petitioner’s second witness on February 2, initially made this claim during his cross-examination last week, saying that they complied with the request of the EC President to see the petitioner, Mr. Mahama, and as such left the national collation center.
Mr. Mettle-Nunoo, who gave his testimony through Zoom, in the presence of a judicial officer, stated that Jean Mensa can testify that “he directed us to the petitioner, he knew that he told us that he would accompany us to the police to bring us back to time if we had traffic problems. “
However, Judge Amenuvor after hearing the testimony of Mr. Mettle-Nunoo, who was unable to physically appear in court due to a health problem, charged him with giving false testimony.
“It is clear that you have not been a true witness even in your own chief evidence, I am telling you that your chief evidence is full of falsehood and even if they are true, they are half true.”
In his defense, Rojo stated, “That is absolutely false, I took an oath, to tell the truth, and I did not tell the court anything but the truth.
“It is your client who is being fake. You are supposed to declare credible results. It is your client who is not being sincere by not telling Ghanaians the true result of the elections, ”emphasized Rojo Mettle Nunoo.
