New Patriotic Party (PNP) general secretary John Boadu has asked Ghanaians to praise the Electoral Commission (EC) for executing its mandates despite some challenges it faced.
Mr. Boadu, who visited the Hohoe Municipal EC registration center as part of his tour of the Volta region, said that it is clear that there were still some genuine people who were unable to register during the previous registration exercise.
“We need to continue to praise the Electoral Commission and” like-minded people who believe that the Ghanaian, who is qualified to participate in this year’s elections, has the opportunity to have their names on the electoral roll. ” he affirmed.
According to the Secretary General of the PNP, if it had not been for the extension of the registration exercise by the EC, many citizens would have been deprived of their rights.
The Secretary General said that interactions with some EC officials in the region showed that minor problems were encountered during the exercise, such as missing names or discrepancies.
He said that although the process was generally peaceful, there was a need for vigilance to ensure that people who were not qualified cannot be added to the electoral register.
Boadu also tasked the Electoral Commission with displaying the current record that is being compiled and correcting all anomalies before October 5.
